MerlionKids is a Singapore based premier preschool with quality settings that adopt the Neuroscience Developmental Curriculum Framework alongside Singapore Kindergarten Curriculum Framework, Exploratory & Experiential based, and Multiple Intelligences Integrated approach to provide a holistic education for our children. We use internationally recognised pedagogies to develop learning dispositions in our children, the brain executive functions, character and values qualities, emotional regulation and social skills, curiosity and reasoning skills, critical thinking and motivation, language and numeracy, self-confidence and grit to overcome future challenges the child might encounter.

Children are naturally curious & resourceful and like to explore surroundings and discover knowledge at the same time. With this understanding, our programmes are child-driven and are designed to be fun and exciting to help children to self-create knowledge through their own discovery.

Our child-driven programmes are sensitive to child's individual learning disposition and abilities at different age level detailed out on the milestones table. In addition to providing comprehensive, integrated instruction in all developmental domains, programmes also provides a systematic and sequential continuum for building skills and concepts for Infant care, Playgroup, Nursery and Kindergarten levels.

Cognitive Neuroscience

MerlionKids' curriculum on early years education is neuroscience and research based. Research results have long revealed that genes might set the road map of the brain, the child's learning experiences during the sensitive and significant time period since birth to six years old share the brain architecture.

The brain architecture is made up of trillions of neural connections. These connections have lasting impact on your child's learning and development. A great extent of neural circuits and mental processes are developed during the first 3 years after birth, but the window opportunity for its development does not close as the neural plasticity nature of the brain continues to develop. Perceptions and mental processes continue to affect the neurotransmission of the brain.

Exploratory and Experiential Approach

This approach provides hands on opportunities for the children not only to develop the physical hand eye coordination and fine motor skills, but also allows the children to self-create knowledge as they express their ideas, imagination, experimentation and abstract manipulation. It is unanimously agreed that in the field of neurodevelopment and neural connectivity, the children are more receptive and interested in learning when they are more engaged with interesting activities. It complements the fostering of child's natural curiosity and motivation of discovering the world, thus enhancing cognitive abilities.
