PARENT – TEACHER CONFERENCES We believe that parent-teacher relationship is necessary for the children's success. Throughout the year, the school will constantly communicate with the parents through quarterly conferences and seminars. Parents are advised to email the school at feedback@merlionkids.com to reflect their concerns and views on their children progresses. Alternatively, appointments or in person could be arranged at any time throughout the year. Learning is the process through which the child gains insight about daily experiences, whether at school or elsewhere. It is not merely the passing of information from the adults to the children. A child is an eager observer and is particularly attracted by the actions of the adults and wants to imitate them. Parents can be an inspiration for the child's action and can promote the learning process by serving as dynamic link between the environment and the child. Thus, parental involvement in the learning process of the children is considered crucial and teaching is a joint responsibility of the school and the family. OUTSIDE PLAY Outside play is a regular part of the school curriculum and our teachers design meaningful games for the children to promote social cohesion, natural environment awareness and physical coordination, when the weather permits. If you think that your children is unwell of physical exercises and outside play, it would be advisable to inform the educators in advance about this or advise your children to rest at home. BIRTHDAY AND OTHER CELEBRATIONS Birthdays are special occasions for young children and will be celebrated on the 2nd Friday monthly. Your child may bring special treats for the class. It is not advisable to send birthday party invitations to school unless the entire class has been invited as we do not want the feelings for those who are not invited to be hurt. Other celebrations include Lunar New Year, Children Day, Teachers Day and Christmas. Feel free to bring your family's cultural holidays into the classroom to share with us.
